Remembering Spooky

This is the third time in the last 4 months that I've had to say good bye to a best friend and companion. It's been painful enough to have to euthenize Emma and Patches, but, tonight Spookys fight was lost. She's been having a rough time of late and she was in her 16th year. I couldn't let her go on like this. Spooky was a good dog, no, she was a GREAT dog! She minded well, she was quiet and she was a very affectionate, sweet dog. That's the best way to describe her...SWEET. She had the sweetest disposition of all the dogs I've known or owned. We will miss her very
much. As most of you know, the 3 girls (dogs) were mine in New York and when I moved to Nova Scotia with Scotty, the girls traveled cross country with me, to start our new adventure in life. I will miss them all dearly, they have a special place in my heart forever.

Abbi is having a hard time already. She keeps looking for Spooky, she doesn't understand and she's obviously very lonely. We will all miss you, dear sweet Spook, rest in peace, sweet dog.

Thanks for stopping by.

A Light unto my Path

Hi again, I'm back!! I love, love, love lighthouses and this one is no exception. This is Stampin Up's A Light unto my Path, and I love the image as well as the Bible verse. My main technique here was simply, layer, layer, layer. I used the base and added 8, yes EIGHT!!, layers to it. I'm really happy with how it turned out and I hope you are, as well. If you have any questions, just email me, I'd be happy to help you.

Well, it's getting late and I need to get some sleep. I hope you have a good night
and a great stampin day tomorrow.

Happppppy stampin!!!

Hugs,

Fun and Fast Notes

Hi Everyone!! I apologize for the gap in my posting. Life has a way of intruding on my stamping time. Shame on life!!! But I'm here now with a card I made with Stampin Up's Fun and Fast Notes. I love the verse, "together forever"! It could be used for a Wedding or Anniversary card, so it's a versatile image. I used last years DSP.

I hope everyone is having a great week and looking forward to the weekend! I know I'm looking forward to it.

Happy Stampin Everyone!!!

Heartfelt Thanks

Hi Everyone! I've been having a struggle for the last week...my mojo did not want to create, infact it went on a break, I think! lol It's cold here, but not as cold as in Upstate New York) I just had to say that! hehe

Tonight I'd like to share with you a card I made using Stampin Up's Heartfelt Thanks stamp set. Finished card size is the A-2 standard card. Here's a summary of things I used to create the card. All products were Stampin Up.

Cardstock:
card base: Mellow Moss
layers: Brushed Gold, Not Quite Navy, Very Vanilla

Stamp Sets: Heartfelt Thanks, French Script Background Stamp, Canvas BG Stamp

Emboss Powder: Gold

Ink: Real Red, Not Quite Navy, Always Artichoke, Versa Mark

Tools: Slit Punch, Heat Gun

The first thing I did was cut my layers. Gold pieces are: 2 3/4" X 5 1/8", 4 1/8" X 2 5/8". Not Quite Navy pieces are: 2 1/2" X 4 7/8" and 3 7/8 X 2 3/8". Very Vanilla pieces are: 2 3/8 X 4 3/4, 2 3/16" X 3 3/4", 2" X 3". After I had all my layers sized and cut, the first thing I did was to stamp all my Very Vanilla Pieces with the Canvas BG stamp in Night of Navy. I didn't want it dark so I stamped off first. I randomly stamped the flower on the 2 largest Very Vanilla pieces, again using the "stamping off" technique. I stamped off, because I wanted soft colors on the flowers. Next, on the largest piece of Vanilla I stamped the French Script Background stamp in Versa Mark Ink, then sprinkled gold emboss powder on it & heat set. I did the same thing on the medium sized vanilla piece. I set that aside and picked up the smallest vanilla piece, I stamped the flower in Versa Mark Ink and covered with Gold emboss powder and heat set. Then I stamped off the flower and stamped it. I sponged very lightly around the flower with Not Quite Navy, then I inked up a silver brad with Real Red ink, pierced a hole and added my brad. I mounted all the Very Vanilla pieces onto the Brushed Gold. I placed them the way I wanted them onto the Mellow Moss, stamped a verse onto a 3x3 Very Vanilla piece inside the card. All done!

I hope I wrote that out understandbly for you...lol...if not, just email me if you have any questions.

I hope you all have a great Friday and have a chance to create something!
Happy Stampin!!!

As always,

Touch of Nature

Hi again, I found this in my tiny stack of cards to scan and post, so I thought I would get at it and share this with you. I know this set is retired, but it was and probably always be one of my favorites. This one, and Lovely as a Tree, both by Stampin Up, are so versatile as far as I'm concerned! I love them both, haha, who am I trying to kid? I love it ALLLLL! If it's a stamp, I probably WANT IT!!! hehe
Ofcourse the difference between WANT and NEED is once again found, in the wallet!! lol

Oops, I digressed big time...here we go! I used Chocolate Chip and Cool Carribian as my main color choices here, and I think it worked well. The DSP is retired (I have got so many I need to use up, and I will, slowly but sureley. That brings me to another topic...I wanted to ask you...do you find that when SU has a retired DSP sale, you stock up?
You put them gently away and vow to use them real soon. Then the new catty comes out with such beautiful, lucious, have to have papers and guess what!!! Gotta have it! And so the DSP stack grows with the retiree's at the bottom. LOL Oh well, I don't care, it won't get rotten and spoil, that's for sure. It will sit there, quiet as a mouse and wait until I stumble upon it again and surprise you all by using it. hehe

And back to my card...it's pretty self explanatory, but if you have any questions, just shoot me an email and I'd be happy to get back to you and fill you in.

Thanks so much for stopping by and spending time reading my silly gibberish. I hope you had a chuckle or two along the way. Don't forget to go up to the top right hand column of my blog and "FOLLOW ME" so you won't miss any cards as I post them. Isn't that neat...they'll come right up in a list for you.... tadaaaaa!!!

Hugs & happy stampin,

Is that a sweet face, or whatttt?

Go ahead, laugh!!! I did! For the longest time, Scotty & I just could not figure out what Abbi wanted. But at nite when we watch TV she would bug & bug me. She started out sleeping in my lap, which was fine. But then she just kept buggin & buggin...then one day, she made her way down to the foot rest & plooped herself there and the rest is history. lol I can't even use my computer anymore by myself!!!! She's at me, and won't leave me alone, til I sit back and put up the foot rest, then she jumps up & she's happy. She usually curls up & goes to sleep, but she was putting on the pitiful Abbi look for the camera! hehe She's such company for me, but I could do without the footrest addition. lol

Just wanted to start your day out with a chuckle, and I think I did! Have a good day, a good week, and get lots of stampin' done! I've got lots of work to do today, but hope to stamp this afternoon.

Peaceful Wishes with "U" chipboard letter

I love this card! It was so much fun to make! I don't use chipboard very much and I don't really know why. When I do use it, I enjoy it and love the results, so I really should reach for it more often. I used the Stampin Up Paisley background stamp on the "U" letter. I love how the design on it turned out. So delicate looking!! I used Peaceful Wishes as well and loved how the whole card looks with the colors. It's different and I think that's why I like it so much! lol

I'm getting tired, but will try to post one more tonight.

Happy Stampin!

Hugs,

Flaky Friends

Flaky Friends!! I love this set! I wish the picture came out a little better, the sentiments are hard to read. It was fun coloring and the snowmen always make me smile.

Cuttlebugged Sellabration Scallop Punch Set

I saw a card somewhere and I'm sorry but I don't know who created it. I loved it the dramatic red and white of it. I decided to make one similar but I used a different stamp set for it. I apologize, but I don't have the actual name of the set. I know it was 2008 sellabration set, the one that goes with the scallop punch.
If anyone knows the name of this set, I would so appreciate it!!

I used the Cuttlebug snowflake embossing folder and just love how this turned out. I did use dimensionals to 3-D the snowflake, the verse and the scallops. It was fun to make and oh so easy! Enjoy!!

Thanks so much for stopping by, I love sharing my cards with you all.

Take care and happy stamping!

Hugs,

Another City of David

Here's another Christmas card using the same stamp set. You can probably tell from my posts that I had some leftover cardstock & designer paper from our last catalog. I use them sometimes and sometimes I use current. The nice part about Stampin Up is that you can interchange all their colors. They always look fabulous.

If you have any questions on this card, or any other, for that matter, just email me. I'd be glad to help you with your cardmaking questions any way I can.

I've added a new guestbook at the bottom of my posts, please sign it, I love seeing where my readers are from.

Have a super rest of the nite.

Happy stamping!!

City of David

Good day to you! New Years Eve was just the way I like it, calm and quiet. We had a nice quiet evening and managed to stay up until the ball dropped. (that's 1 am here, Atlantic Time. We're an hour ahead in Nova Scotia.) Just one problem, the station we watched never showed the ball dropped!!! We were sooooooo dissappointed. They just showed a fixed picture of the a super close up of the ball. it showed it the clear waterford crystal color, no colors shining thru or anything!!! Badddddd network!!! hehe

I hope this year proves to be one with tons of stamping and wonderful fresh, new idea's. I also pray and hope we all manage to stay relatively healthy and well this year!!! Here's hoping!!!

I have some xmas cards I wasn't able to get blogged in 2008. I think what I'd like to do is go ahead and add them now. Then we'll start off with all new & fresh!!!
Hope that sounds good to you!

I'm going to start out with City of David by Stampin Up. As you can see, I made the "front"of the card, just like a folder that opens from the top...then the "inside" would be the pull out part. I decorated the back of it slightly, so you could sign on the back side, rather than mess up the front! lol
hope you like it! Take care!
